Poor venting- and then added two Big Mouths
Did a boiler job/ venting was dismal- 1/8” nips and 90s leading to tiny vents, on the various drops into the wet return.
We found a spot where an on rad had been pulled and capped. We slapped on a couple big mouths. It’s maybe 30 feet from the boiler.
With Old tiny vent that may or may not be working:
8:35 to get the steam from boiler to the “capped takeoff” (the main- one can certainly feel the steam coming through)
with the two big mouths:
7:29.
I guess a minute plus savings is good, I thought it would have been faster

Has the boiler been properly cleaned? Wet steam will slog along, considerably slower than dry steam.

@Steamhead im not sure- I settled for the one minute faster and called it a day. If you can tell me how to quantify the venting please let me know

@STEAM DOCTOR its a new boiler, I’ll go back and skim early next week. So the two results were like for like as fast as the boiler goes

8 minu tes measured from when? When the burner starts, or when the header sees steam? If it's from when the header sees steam. that's slow (I'd have expected 2 to 3 minutes). From the burner start?

Jamie, when the header is steamed. I’ll skim it and report back
