Feed water pump to steam boiler

so I have a single phase 120v 2HP feed water pump coming straight from tank to steam boiler.
pump runs good but I have to keep steam boiler pressures below 80 if not pump will dead head. Right now I lowered pressures to 60 and was working fine but now I’m dead heading again with 110 amp draw coming from pump. It spins but seems to have no flow. Wondering if boiler had to much pressure for this pump to even run. I’m at loss here

    Good grief. What is this application? That much pressure is a process or power boiler?

    And what pump? Horsepower is not the whole story on a pump — need to know the make and model to get the pump curve to check performance.

    it is a burks 34CS6M pump for a steam boiler for a sterilizer at a hospital.. it’s about 3450 Rpms single phase amp draw should be at around 22amps now at the moment pump hums bot won’t rotate so I’m guessing start switch may be bad brand new pump

    Start caps or starter iitself would be the best place to start.

    2hp 120 volt pump can't possibly draw 110 amps unless it is locked up. Did you mean 10 amps? that would be very low for a 2 hp pump which would indicate it is not pumping.

    From what I have found that pump is 1/3HP. You have to get the amp draw, pump model #s and horsepower correct so we can help.

    Being a single phase motor, you could also have a problem with the centrifugal starting switch inside the motor.
