Identifying steam trap replacements.

So my building has 20 odd radiators and up till now I thought I had two styles of steam traps. The Hoffman 17c which I have had success replacing the cage units and have happy radiators. (For the most part)

I also have Milvaco H 100-6…here’s the kicker. As I’ve been trying to get functional replacements I have noticed that the interiors aren’t all matching up.

Some have a nut inside similar to the Hoffmanns(typically removed and discarded)

The others are a smooth bottom base…help me out, do I have 3 types of steam traps?

Anyone have a link to the correct replacements?

Pictures below will show the one new replacement I have purchased, a jones and Barnes 3143

The only other item of note is that a few of the caps have an additional B stamped on them

Contact Tunstall. They can find the right replacement.

The "hex" is a removable seat. On the second (dark gray) radiator, are you sure there isn't a hex in the bottom, covered by dirt and/or water?

Hello Msteam1! Scott here from Tunstall. The Milvaco's must have had some fun back in the day because they made an H-100-6 and an H100-6. Clever, right? Anyways, the B&J cage unit you have (3143) is listed for both of those part numbers so it does appear that you have the correct repair kit. It also says "seat in" for both so it would appear that no matter which model(s) you have, leave that hex seat in and see if that works.

Thanks everyone! Yes they do appear to be mildly different models. The gray one does NOT have that seat down inside. It’s completely clean. Will pick up more of the 3134 cage units and see what happens
