    1" Fiberglass insulation, PVC fitting covers.

    You can buy it online but I don't have a name.

    1" is typical for steam systems on a cost to benefit basis.

    I use 1 inch thick fiberglass it lets you score out a 1/2 inch around fittings and just cover the fittings without having to buy special covers for the fittings. covering the pipe is important. every foot of 2 inch pipe is radiating 240 btu's . every pipe is a radiator. insulating the pipes in the boiler room and any area of the house that is used for storage .laundry Etc.. will pass the steam further down the line without it losing its heat and condensing . if you put it on yourself you probably save more each year than the insulation cost. it was often removed to sell the house due the possibility that it was asbestos. it needs to be on those pipes. not having it can be between 10 and30 % of your heating bill, if its a full basement not used as a living space.
