Looking to do chimney-vent with buffer tank and outdoor reset

I've thought for a long time about what a schematic would look like for a chimney-vent (oil or gas) boiler, feeding an indirect and a buffer tank. Off the buffer tank, take a mixing valve capable of outdoor reset. Pumping away, and all other best hydronic practices being followed. I am looking for the reliability of standard efficiency, plus the reset capability of outdoor reset. Is this feasible and practical, given that I would be getting materials at cost?

What is the reason gir the buffer? Do you have a non modulating boiler? Ir micro zones?

    so why a buffer tank?

So that I could run the system side off of a reset-enabled mixing valve and not risk sustained flue gas condensation in the chimney when the boiler runs

keep the return temp above 140*

I'm assuming you need a buffer tank because the boiler is oversized and you want to make sure the burner runs long enough to make sure you don't have any condensing in the chimney or boiler.

Having an indirect water heater with the buffer tank is where it gets interesting. The indirect needs to get heated to 140⁰ ideally and the buffer tank is probably going to need to be heated around 140⁰ as well to avoid condensation. Why not combine them together? Get an indirect tank with a big coil that has a lot of volume and pipe it as a reverse indirect. You can use a Taco i series outdoor reset capable mixing valve or use a variable speed injection pumping primary/secondary piping strategy. I'm sure Caleffi Idronics has examples of how to do it.

a two pipe buffer with a 3 way on ODR

A reverse indirect could work but you may need to maintain it at 180 always to get adequate dhw
