Which New Analyzer?

Hello All,

I am looking to replace an aging E-intruments Btu900- any suggestions? The unit has a replaceable O2 sensor which has been nice. Typically used for residential/light commercial mod-cons. It seems most brands have ups and downs. The calibration costs and downtimes seem unavoidable- so the best would be a model with longer service intervals. Not wanting to spend a fortune unless that up front price cuts down on calibrations. Thanks in advance!

I had a Bacharach Fyrite Pro for years; needed new, expensive sensors every year. In 2022, I switched to a Testo 300 and it's been excellent. It doesn't need sensors replaced and I haven't had it calibrated since I purchased it.

I bought it on Amazon; "Used, Like New" and saved $700. I also got the printer.

I'm underimpressed with my UEi. I have the old style, the cost to cal is on par with the purchase price of one of their current low-end models. Really disappointed.

    I have a 320. Like it a bunch… I get it calibrated bi yearly. ($300)

Send it to Testo from my supply house.

You may be able to get a used one as the 310 is discontinued.

Thanks everyone- I have been looking at Testo quite a bit. seems there is no way around the calibration fees, except the Bacharach insight and the fieldpiece cat45 have replaceable pre-calibrated CO sensors which means hopefully not shipping the unit away. I will do some more investigating!

I used Bacharach Fyrite Pro for years as well, no more. We had one that stopped working less than 1 yr old. sent it in, got billed about 700 or so. We moved to the Seitron.

If your analyzer needs calibration every year you should buy a goo one.

Sauerman makes one of the best ones today. That is coming from someone who sold and used Bacharach ,for 40 years. Seitron is also good but don't ever buy with attached printer

I forgot to mention that TruTech.com is the best place to buy, calibrate and repair. Give them "NCI2025" coupon and get extra discount

Hi all. Anything "captainco" Jim Davis says you can take it to the bank. He is or was one of NCI's senior instructors, a great educational / training organization. I have taken his Carbon Monoxide safety testing and diagnostics class and it has been invaluable along with their other performance based classes. Sorry if this came across as an advertisement for NCI but they are one of many great educators in and for our industry that keeps us on top of our game. Hi Jim, I have not seen you in a while, I miss your combustion classes! Wishing you well!

I just traded in my former E-Instruments 1500 that was manufactured by Seitron on a new Seitron Novo…. absolutely the best analyzer i have ever owned! Truly amazing, and I have it with built in printer (so did my 1500) and have never had an issue with the printer, works great. One of the many features is I can quickly build a model of boilers with all the combustion paerameteres, then next time I am on that type of boiler I just have to scroll down and select it, saving me time of looking ut up or trying to find the I&O manual. Yes all analyzers should have annual calibration for YOUR liability. All Seitron's have 4 year O2 sensors that are field replaceable. Seitron's service and training is second to none!! Check out my old one and my new one featured in the picture on their webpage Homepage - Seitron Americas (they are not actually mine, but new ones that look like the models I owned)

I've had a Testo 327-1 for a number of years; I had to send it in for recalibration/sensor replacement about 8 years ago, and it cost me slightly north of $500. I've been mostly retired for the last 3 years, so it hasn't seen much use; hopefully it will be o-k when I clean/tune up my boiler this fall. I found the unit really easy to use and used it mostly on oil but occasionally on propane. I also have a Testo 308 smoke meter, which was great while it lasted but now gives error messages. Sadly they quit making it a while back and won't service it, so I'm going to try to repair it myself…

If I were to look into a replacement, I would be looking for something with user-replaceable precalibrated sensors.

I have a Sauerman and it's been great for the past few years. With the app on your phone you can save your report as PDF and email or print it out. Also works great with the Measure Quick app

This has been great everyone! Thanks! Being a solo contractor I have to balance the maintenance & up front costs vs. practicality. Having field replaceable pre-calibrated sensors is a huge plus for me.

The service department at Sauermann just cut me a trade-in deal for the SiCA-130- for a reasonable price which will bring me into the information age finally. I just wish I could dumb down my phone without consequence and I would be happy. After not looking into various analyser options for years (as we should not need to) it is great that brands are still competitive and pack a lot of great features. Thanks Again!
