Outdoor Reset?

Actually I had all the information written done but "the dog ate it"!

As I am starting to set up my new Weil-McClain Cga4 that w be used for radiant floor heating I would appreciate some help knowing what components are needed for the outdoor reset. I will be using a Tekmar 4 Way Mixing Valve, an Actuator motor, and an outdoor sensor. But what type of controller? I had written to Tekmar and got a response saying they replied but there was no information in their emails. So I thought I would inquire here!

Thanks I advance!

maybe they have a less expensive option?

You might check out the LK110 from LK Armature if you haven't already gotten the Tekmar. The controller mounts on top of the valve. The LED display cycles through mixed water temp, min temp, max temp, curve, offset and outdoor temp. Select the desired parameter and then adjust up/down as necessary.

Does that one operate a 4 way mixing valve with boiler protection to regulate return water temperature?

Not that I know of. I have an LK823 loading valve (LK181538, thermostatic 65C min return) for boiler protection on my wood fired boiler. The LK110 fits on a 3-way mixing valve (LK180855) which is used to regulate the water temp going to the radiant floor loops from storage.

Here is a simple outdoor reset, it is the valve and the controller all in one. all that is needed extra is a 24volt transformer to power it up

and here is the instruction guide https://www.tacocomfort.com/documents/FileLibrary/102-145.pdf

So I started looking at the Taco 4 way mixing valve for 1 1/4". $$$$on Amazon. Supply House has discontinued them.

I think might just go with Tekmar.

Is there a reason you need the 4-way rather than a three-way?
The biggest difference between the two was not only one more port but the use of the 4 way is for really large flow systems. And if the valve is oversized, you end up with hunting, small changes in the valve changes the water temp really fast.

IInteresting . My "old" setup was a coal stoker boiler with a 3 way Tekmar Mixing Valve. I never sprang for the outdoor reset package I just fussed manually. Thinking 4 way because of conversations I had here on the forum.

A 4 way valve has two mixing points. A 3 way only has one. So a 4 way can mix down the radiant and also protect a non condensing boiler. Plus odr. It takes 3 sensors to do this.

A 3 way typically requires P/S piping, fig 6-8 hence two circulators.

A 4 way would need to pipe P/S if you use a high pressure drop boiler. For some reason??

With a low pressure drop boiler, one circ may be all you need with a 4 way. Wood or coal boilers often have a buffer tank, so the single circ works well.
