3 and 1 1/2 ton finally done

it always amazes me how much time these Geothermal jobs soak up. Anyways, we put the button on this one today.
we mixed some hard stuff, 15%. I felt like I was in a Breaking Bad skit for a moment. I filled the little 1 gallon jug 20 times. 1 gallon per 5 1/2 gallons of water.
till next time 😀

i’m waiting for some eagle eye to point something out,
OK maybe several things out, but one thing just caught my attention
the homeowner will be able to take care of it in about 1.5 seconds flat

Is the ground loop primary secondary?
0 -
Did you take a boiler out I see piping in the corner?
0 -
it’s the one bigger circulator , I guess I would call that primary
0 -
Ed yes we yanked the old propane boiler, the Scrap guy did his thing with it

Took out hydro aire and boiler and went geo. I didn't notice anything in the pics.
How do you like the Waterfurnace? I did 3 or 4 of them in a college in Leicester back in the 90s thought they were pretty good.. That was my first geo job. There is a story that goes with that job four another time.
The last geo job was Daiken and we had issues with them.

Whoever did the old stuff looks like they di d a good job too. Maybe a little incident with the old condensate piping.

looks nice! They have a boiler HP and heat pump water heater?
Or did the boiler go away?

Thanks 😀
Propane boiler got yanked, we patched the foundation, made it look good.
I paid a VideoGuy, he’s been out four times. I’m going to have a two minute video made. I’ll paste it when it’s done in a few weeks.2 -
Ed waterfurnace is the only brand we ever installed.
small thing, we just need to shut off one of those 1/2” ball valves heading to that pressure gauge. It’s pretty minor.
Edit- it is so strange dictating, some of my words get chopped out- I have to go back and insert words here and there

I put 10% in mine back in CT and then was a little miffed to see that the water temp never went below 40

Paul then i would call that a win! That's a good problem
You pumped it in? One Chem sales guy scared me silly years ago, the stuff can be dangerous.
1 -
@mattmia2 yes that needs to be trapped, no 'vent', I see some odd stuff in my travels

No I didn't have to pump it because I had an open/atmospheric loop pump. I was able to just pour it in. And it was the food grade stuff, not dangerous to my knowledge

Thanks @EBEBRATT-Ed for that comment. At a closer look, I see that First Co. air handlers were replaced by the Water Furnace air handlers. Now I get it.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

I swear I wasn't TRYING to look for something to rag on. I was just looking where to put a probe thermometer to take in and out water temperatures.
Anyhooo, 1.5 seconds for the homeowner to put the cap on. One hand as counterforce under the trap because those caps sometimes need a little persuasion.
And beautiful work.

@HVACNUT no that’s on purpose😀
It’s the 1/2” ball valves on the loop pump- I should have closed one of them
Just a tiny bypass going on- nothing to get excited about
homeowner closed of of them for me (40 min drive)0 -
Why is that on purpose? I know the pump is right there, so its not a concern here, but a vent should rise at least a few inches above the trap inlet. Is there a benefit to keeping the cap off? Does Water Furnace have a display that shows temperatures and pressures, or are the ports hidden?

I always thought it was like holding your finger on the straw. The cap is the finger. I know it works with the cap on, I see it all the time in my travels.
the units do not display anything. I have this Waterfurnace control that plugs into the Cat 5 port. I did a little bit of adjusting to the airflow. But I did not spend time going through all the other technicalities.

i thought it was an overflow in case the piping got clogged but now that i think about it, the height thing means it will spill inside before it overflows
0 -
I thought it was so you can clean out the trap with the included brush

I can't wrap my head around the min height thing. We do it on gas furnaces just to follow the written word.
AC—-can't see how that can possibly matter
