Amana Side?

my AC went out last week, 13 year old Tempstar

I’m considering this Amand side HP/ dual fuel, with a NovusAer filtration, a locally built product. Thanks for any opinions? Maybe a steam humidifier.

all that Asian stuff seems to be doing pretty well. Who makes them? Is it Daikin? Long line set? Are you going to need some ref? You’re gonna get the case coil as well?

I don’t know anything about the filtration system

Doubt this will help, but here goes. We take care of my accountants office building. They have three Daiken mini splits, these have been trouble free for the last seven years. I have two Fujistsu mini splits, they have been trouble free for nine years.

I have not seen an Amana unit (yet).

Daikin owns Amana so definitely involves Daikin tech, but not really relevant. Looks like most US unitary manufacturers are trying out some side discharge inverters for their regular unitary lineup. Ours recently announced one as well. No doubt it has something to do with the mini split brands making coils that attach to a regular air handler/furnace that communicate with their outdoor units. I would think Daikin has an advantage here since they have been manufacturing both style systems for a long time now.

I like Mitsubishi much better when it comes to those systems. The Daikin installation instructions are absolutely horrible. I'm sure it's a result of poor translation into English. I have found them to be more complex than necessary which is bad when the instructions are terrible. The quality of the equipment seems to be on par with Mitsubishi and superior to Fujitsu and the Chinese manufacturers in my experience.

Daikin besides Amana, also owns Goodman and most Amana equipment is identical to Goodman. Well, practically identical, my Amana outdoor unit has horizontal slots in the sheet metal instead of vertical like the Goodman equivalent.

A lot of people bash Goodman, so, take it for what it's worth.

I've been using it as well as Amana because I think @pecmsg 's comment is more true than not, so all of the bashing probably doesn't mean much.

Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.

Don't know about Amana but Goodman used to be bashed around here for being cheap crap.

I wouldn't hesitate to install Goodman. I think there stuff now is better than a lot of other stuff.

I could be wrong but I think they are 1 mfg that stayed away from microchannel

Amana is owned by Matag, which is owned by Whirlpool, which is owned by Dakin, and maybe someone owns Dakin?

Maybe Dakin is owned by Amana🤪

Is whirlpool owned by dakin or did they split off the Aman hvac brand decades ago, possible before they acquired maytag?

Looks like Whirlpool is owned by Whirlpool:

I don't see how Whirlpool or Maytag is related to Amana..

But Goodman and Amana HVAC are most certainly owned by Daikin.

I guess it depends on what year you search to? This indicates Whirlpool owns the Amana home appliance, but Dakin owns the HVAC division.

Maytag bought Amana in the early 2000's, Amana was independent before that. Whirlpool bought Maytag around 2008 so Whirlpool now owns Amana but it looks like probably Amana sold the hvac part of their business to Goodman, maybe trying to generate some cash to stay out of bankruptcy.

The gal installing my system today has been to Dakin factory in Texas, Amana built on one side, Goodman on the other, same location.

I had a brother/ sister team install my new system today.

Goodman bought Amana in 1997 then sold the appliance part to Maytag in 2002.
