Valve and Actuator ID

Does anyone recognize this valve and actuator. The head keeps popping off and the pin valve may need lubrication or replacement.

Any markings on the brass body, often the manufacturer logo is forged into the body

Great. Just Great!! Another thing you can't get info from cause it's installed deep in a tight space and is unreadable.

That might be a Danfoss valve body. ? The head has got me baffled. I'm going to guess it's a universal replacement head.

If you need to, I think you can use a cap or a manual adjustment head that Danfoss packages their valves with.

looks like it is just a thermal zone valve? There really is not a universal head that fits all even though the thread is pretty standard same with radiant manifolds,

The issue is the pin stroke varies from brand to brand

I did see an adapter kit once in Europe, a selection of different colored adapters and spacers to mix and match heads and bodies

I came across the same a few years ago. No name on it, which is beyond stupid. I scrolled through my pics but must have deleted them. I want to say Upinor (Wirsbo), but not positive. And what I wanted was discontinued. If I remember right, I brought back 3 different actuators and performed some T&E. It's the ring depth that gets you. And if I remember right again (which is getting harder and harder every day), I needed a 4 wire, could only get a 2 wire that fit, and wired in a relay for the end switch.

I realize none of this actually helps you @Alan (California Radiant) Forbes, but I feel your pain.

  • It’s a valve we installed in 2003 when the system was installed along with a Munchkin boiler. Last month, the Munchkin’s HX failed and we replaced it with an IBC and noticed that the actuator head for this zone had popped off the valve and was just hanging there by its cord; probably because the pin valve had frozen.
Im pretty sure it’s a Danfoss, but not quite clear why I used that brand instead of Taco.

looks like a compression style valve also, probably of European decent.

A few months ago I bought a Danfoss TRV valve without the sensor portion and it looks very similar. It had the "spline" on the brass portion like the one in your photo.

This is the link to the valve: https://www.supplyhouse.com/Danfoss-013G8020-3-4-Straight-Thermostatic-Radiator-Valve

I found my pics in a different folder, but still don't think it'll help. Maybe the bar code?
