A coil on top of oil furnace

does anyone know of a company that makes replacement a coils with metal drain pans, instead of plastic? I need to replace a 41 year old 3 ton r22 coil that sits on top of an oil furnace. Most of the time I try to install these at least 4” above the furnace. Due to space limitations on this job, I may only be able to get it 2 to 3” above the furnace. I was thinking a metal pan may be better. Thanks to all.

CRC- Coil replacement Company may have what you need.

A translation to raise the coil up at least 6” is required on oil furnaces.

    A 41 year old R22 system?

I guess any 410A coil wouldn't fit, regardless.

Is there room on the return for a downflow 410A evaporator with duct modifications. Filter rack upstream.

Any coils with a metal drain pan that I see are at least 20-30 years old, and super rusty. A plastic drain pan with adequate space between the furnace will work just fine providing that the limit switch on the furnace is operating correctly.

on the return WILL rust out the furnace heat exchanger.

thanks to all that responded. The CRC company while very helpful only make custom built coils, which would not be cost effective for a residential replacement. I think what I am going to do is buy automotive heat shield panels that have adhesive backing. I think I can get a general replacement A coil about 3” above the furnace. The heat shield that comes in 12” x 12” squares I am going to cut it and line the top of the transition and bottom of the pan with it. It says it protects to 2000 degrees, so It should work to protect the pan.
yes the system is a 2.5 ton 41 year old R22 unit. The crazy part is that another company replaced the furnace 5 years ago, but left the ac and coil in service. Otherwise I would replace everything and start over.

    Thanks again take care all
