Heating oil furnace exhaust

in THE MAIN WALL

Hi I'm installing a fuel oil furnace in my pole barn.

Can I run the exhaust threw side wall or does it have to go through the roof

Also what type of pipe should I use

    that’s all listed in the installation and operations manual.

    you need to follow what the manufacturer recommends

    You can't use single wall pipe and no "B" vent which is just for gas.

    You need type "L" metalbestos. Must go through the roof but read the manual it will tell you.

    It is expensive

    I'm having trouble finding the exact manual for my unit. It's an older Williamson high boy

    I pulled the burner assembly and inspected it. Fire box and everything is in great condition.im wanting to install it as safely as possible,and I know that I need to get an barometric damper also. Best price I found on the pipe you mentioned is roughly 100 dollars a foot. Got furnace for free. With pipe and dampener I'm looking at over 2,000,think I will check with some local HVAC installers and see if I can get any of it used. I'll also need a boot seal were it goes threw the roof

    Might also try a sheet metal shop if you have one in your area.

    Maybe a Field Controls or Tjerlund sidewall power venter could be an option? That would require installation by someone who has a digital combustion analyzer in order for it to function properly.

    Unfortunately I don't think I have ever come across a residential power vented oil fired furnace or boiler that was set correctly.

    I have a Williamson Temp- matic oil furnace, that as soon as you turn on the service switch it will light burner. I have completely disconnected the thermostat and it continues to do it. From what little bit of literature I can find,it appears to be connected correctly..It's a High Boy downdraft.

    Model number 1165-10-4

    Serial number 7138944

    Style 153

    How old is it? I don't see that model in the Williamson/Thermoflo library.

    Temp-o-Matic.…that's really old. Like before Williamson merged with Metzger Machine Corp and Thermoflo.

    It could have a junk 3 wire primary control or maybe a short in the thermostat wire

    Was thinking maybe primary control.

    Contacts look good ,but it's only thing that I can think of..I took the thermostat wires completely off of it , but no change

    I finally figured it out.Fan control was shorted

    Started looking at it closer and noticed cracks in plastic housing

    Disconnected one wire at a time,

    Furnace stays off when closing service switch,jumper red and white t- stat wires and furnace powers up. Thank everyone for your help
