Does the same company make all these different brands of steam boilers?

I'm wondering why so many steam boilers look exactly alike and even have the same dimensions and btu in and out. Are most of them manufactured by the same company? Crown looks like New Yorker which looks like Archer etc...

U.S. Boiler is the parent company.

You can also add Burnham to the list.

Each company uses the same casting and may from time to time the same controls and burners for the most part. The only thing that is guaranteed to be different is the color of the paint that use at the different assembly locations. My favorite is the Philadelphia version. Phillies Red with dark gray accents.

And wearing a Crown because they are the King of customer service

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

They are pretty much the same boiler sold at different supply houses for the most part. I will say that the paint finish on the Crown is more durable finish vs New Yorker. If you look at all the manuals they are pretty much the same document. You see more of a change in the hydronic line. Burnham for example the supply and return can only be piped on one side and have come with a special fitting for the relief and temp gauge. Crown can have the supply/return on the right or left side of the boiler as long as both are on that side. Makes install easier.

I've installed the crown and have no complaints. Service several New Yorkers no issues for me other than previous contractors not reading the IOM…

looking at the manuals and finding out they are the same document is usually a good way to figure out if the same product is being sold with different names on it
