Viessman boiler and airflow plus not heating home
Good day everybody we have a veissman vitodens 200 boiler system and a veissman airflow plus when we set the house temperature from the thermostat to 20° and the house is at 18°, it will cycle on and off multiple times and sometimes we'll stay on for an hour it will only heat the house maybe half a degree within those 2 hours this is very annoying because we live in a cold climate and have to light on our fireplace for most of the heat we've had a technician come out and take a look and replace a circulating pump and a few fuses and he said everything was good is there anything we could do to get more heat through the air exchanger as this is an expensive unit and it's really annoying to not be able to properly heat our home

What are the water temps during all phases of this "warm-up"? Does the air handler cycle off, or the boiler, or both? Nobody can answer without more information, but if there is a call for heat, the system should never shut down.

Hey, our dhw temp is set to 45°. It's the air handler that cycles on and off not the boiler. I'm not to knowledgable about the system as it was installed already when we bought the house. For an example, thermostat is set to 20° overnight, Incan hear the air going throughout the house for hours and incheck the house temp and it'll be 19°. The air coming through the vents is mildy warm.

do you have hot heating pipes coming out of the boiler? and 10 15 feet away? (too hot to touch?)
what about at the air handler? hot in and out?
can you post pictures showing both?
any controls at the airhandler? aquastat? its settings?

I was asking about the boiler water temps, not the domestic water. If the boiler stays running and making heat while the air handler stops during a call for heat, there is a control or flow issue somewhere. There may be a temp sensor somewhere which turns off the fan if water temp falls below a certain point, which may be a control issue (too low of a water temp) or may be a flow issue.

The pipe our if the boiler is really hot and the pipe for our dhw is super hot. Pipe for the air exchanger is warm but not hot

As I am typing this air exchanger is blowing lukewarm air, pipe to air exchanger is warm not hot

Would this be on the boiler side? I'm just confused because the tech who installed this system 7 years ago is the tech that we've called multiple times about this and keeps saying everything is working fine. But we keep having these problems

is this a new problem, or have you been chasing it for years ?
sounds like you don't have good circulation to air handler,
the circ itself, or maybe air bound to or at the coil from the circ change
can you draw on your boiler picture which lines and circ go to AH ?
any means to vent air at AH ?
is that vent open above circs? (right og boiler)
what system pressure do you have ?

Those pipes go to the air handler and the bottom circulation pump is the one the tech replaced 3 days ago. All vents are open. I'm not fully sure what you mean by vent air at the air handler pressure is at 14 psi. Which is in the green zone

Is it possible that the air handler is fed by one of the two circulators at the very top of the picture? If this is not correct, can you advise which piping is feeding the air handler?

Your sketch cannot be correct. That red line must go THROUGH the mixing valve and over to one of the two circulators. It doesn't go past the circulators.

There are four vertical copper lines to the right of the boiler that go all the way to the ceiling. My suspicion is that lines 3 and 4 (from the left) go the air handler. These lines avoid the mixing valve. However, I don't see a pump for those lines?

Hi the top two circulators go to the basement flooring and garage flooring. I'm no expert but the technician said those bottom ones do the water and air handler

I believe one of the bottom circulators goes to the ah, and we have only been in this house for one year, but don't recall having heating issues last winter. We do live in the prairies where it gets -30° if that means anything

OK, it appears that the second circulator from the bottom does the air handler………..provided it does NOT do the hot water.
If this is correct, be sure the handler is calling, and put your hand on the very first vertical pipe to the right of the boiler. It should be blazing hot. The second circulator from the bottom NEEDS to be running!

bottom circ clearly goes to the hydraulic separator and rest of heating system, is that air vent openon separator ?
the 2nd circ up goes up to ceiling,
and I'm guessing to AH, nope, wired to switch that says Domestic,is AH down here in basement, or up in attic?

Yes the first vertical pipe is not touchable hot, this one goes to the hot water. The pipes to the ah are warm not hot, I feel the circulators and they are hot and a slight vibration

OK, it is confirmed that lines 3 and 4 going vertical feed the air handler. WHERE IS THE CIRCULATOR? Neither of the circulators on the bottom have anything to do with the air handler. One is the primary pump and the other feeds the DHW.
You cannot get much flow to the air handler without a circulator!!

try this,
turn off switch for Domestic, and shut those 2 valves at ceiling,
shut off everything else above separator, power and valves,
maybe this will force flow to AH, and release air, all water air vents stay open,
give that 10 minutes,
did you get any air releases? go 10 minutes more,
when air stops, then reopen and repower all that you shut

Time for a new "tech". You'll not get this fixed without adding a circulator for the air handler. This is basic.

Could be………..but, the problem has persisted for years……………..and, if the primary pump was NG, nothing in the house would get sufficient heat other than the DHW.
