Boiler was low on water and now I refilled it
New home owner with steam heat…
noticed house was colder than normal and was checking my radiators if they were hot. A few were very cold especially the third floor and a few downstairs ones were warmer but not near 70. I reluctantly went down to the boiler and noticed it was quite low, not empty but low. I refilled it with water via the intake valve, up to my half way point, and checked on the thermostat.
Am I all clear, and all be good or should I do anything else?

Hello steam1916,
Possibly the boiler's water was low enough that the LWCO (Low Water Cut Off) shut the burner down. If restoring the proper water level restored the heat it is basically OK. You should probably monitor the water level more closely.

If you reluctantly went to check the boiler, we'll assume it doesn't get checked regularly?
So we'll assume you don't make reluctant trips to the basement to manually feed water to the boiler?
Does the boiler have an automatic water feeder? It, or the switch in the Low Water Cut Off to the feeder could have an issue. If you have an auto feeder, but need to continue to feed manually, then those controls should be checked.
