Steam Valve Sizing Question (heat distribution)
Quick question - I have Gorton #5s and #6s (or Maid-o-Mist equivalent) on my downstairs radiators, #5s on the second floor radiators and #D on the third floor radiators. Boiler is two flights below the downstairs.
The upstairs rooms, particularly those with the #Ds are a bit hot compared to downstairs. Would putting the Ds downstairs and the 5s and 6s upstairs help things? I'm trying to read and learn but its a bit hard to understand. Thank you!

No don't swap the D. The D is much too large for any radiator. Buy a 5 or 6 for upstairs. If the D is a Maid O Mist you can buy a #5 maid o mist and just swap out the orifice thing on top.

Thank you! i will do that. Just out of interest, would putting the D on one of the downstairs radiators warm up the downstairs a bit more? Or would i throw off the balance of the whole thing?

Try slowing the upstairs first.
Trying to squeeze the best out of a Weil-McLain JB-5 running a 1912 1 pipe system.0 -
