I think Carlin may be a better choice for that boiler and then there are MIDCO burners.
TY ,,, would you happen to know the other burner models that are compatible with the GO-3 …Thx

@edplu , we've used Carlin EZ-Gas and Midco EC-200 burners on GO-3 boilers. They run great.

Call Carlin and tell them what boiler you have and the can fix you up with the right specs. If you can find a plumbing supply house that will sell you a burner you will have to buy it from the supply house. Carlin will not sell direct to anyone. Try Supply House.com

I agree with @Ironman . The worst sooted up boiler I worked on this year was a Burnham 4 section V8 that someone slapped a Midco burner on without setting it up properly. This is something that some professionals don't know how to do correctly. This should only be done by a trained and experienced tech who is trained on combustion analysis and equipped with a digital combustion analyzer.

I thought these Nat Gas burners burned clean ?? not like oil …

Yes, when properly installed and setup.
But it’s not something that you just slap in, turn it on, and walk away from.
Proper gas pressure, draft, air to fuel ratio and settings are necessary for any fuel to burn clean and efficiently.
And to be frank, that statement reveals exactly why you need a competent pro to install it.

Well, If I deside to go NG I will probably put it in and have someome set it up for me. I may just get a new oil burner about 500 less. But I would luv to get rid of oil !! Looks like all these NG burners are about the same $$. All I know is my QB-180 is all most shot… the cam setting is frozen and I did not want to mess with it and F it up. Wish I could just find a new gun assembly but I dout that.

Understand you not just looking at the cost of the burner. You have to consider:
Installing the burner
Gas piping, permit, pressure testing and inspection
Start and commission the burner and combustion test
Removal and disposal of oil tank and used oil.
Gas burners are not like washing machines or vacuum cleaners. You just don't plug them in and they run. They have to be set up and adjusted the same as an oil burner. Improper adjustment can cause C0 poisoning

Thx for you concern Ed, I drove an oil truck for years and work with many Techs so I been down that road. I was just look for the best value on the way to go if I go with NG..TY

Most of the oil stuff I work on burns just as clean as gas. Probably 85% of the oil equipment I work on doesn't need annual brushing and vacuuming. My boiler at home hasn't seen a soot vacuum in at least 5 years. Keep the burner clean and set combustion and draft correctly and you have no problems. Oil burners only have a bad reputation because of lazy and incompetent techs.

What @SuperTech said is correct. Oil set up properly with a modern burner is your least expensive option. They do burn just about as clean as gas.

This will work. We've done it. But don't think you can DIY this- you need a pro to install and set it up properly.
