Smith BB 14A-S/W-4 Oil Steam Boiler

Hello all!

Our oil based steam boiler journey is coming to an end. We currently have a Smith BB 14A-S/W-4 boiler, manufactured in 1994. When we purchased this home, I contact the manufacturer to get information on this unit based on serial number. The previous owners claimed it was installed circa 2007, which seems unlikely.

It runs great, has been well maintained, and has no issues.

We're planning to decommission it and I am wondering if anyone would want it? It's obviously older, but it's a beast of a workhorse.

Please contact me if interested for more details.

If it's running great, why would you want to decommission it?

That would be my question, too. That boiler will run practically forever with a little TLC now and then, and there is no other heating system which has the comfort of steam.

And switching to anything else is going to expensive… which you'll never recover…

    BB-14s were good boilers

I get the points above, but the house is being converted over to something I shall not name here. :-)

We could keep it as backup—this would be the difference between a sizable rebate. But this is unlikely to happen.
