A little Bummed
Well, I got a little ahead of myself and bought a used T-drill T55 on eBay. I was pretty excited about it but didnt really get to play with it for quite a few months after I got it. As it turns out, it doesnt work very well. So I shipped it and three heads to the factory hoping for a reman and back to work! I guess they dont work on that model anymore and the three heads I shipped have chips and cant be sharpened. Well thats a bummer. They did offer to sell me a new setup at an ok deal but man I just spent ALOT to get this and wont use it enough to make the new purchase worth it! BUMMER.

Hi, Have you looked into Rems tools? They make a T puller that costs much less than T Drill. I've done a lot of work with mine 😉

I've used the T-Drill on Manhattan high-rises extensively and got certified on it many years ago. I know it doesn't meet code standards, but In a bind, drilling the hole and building up the silver brazing rod with a heavy, feathered out bead is just as strong.
I've always done this on tie ins to old brass or TP risers when you had no play. Mad Dog 🐕

I think most code books allow tee pulling? Refered to as mechanically formed tee-fitting,. ASME B-31.9 is the standard for plumbing, B31.5 for refrigeration work. 605.5.1 in the IPC 1203.3.8 in the IMC. 4.2.8.3 in the National Standard Code..
They do require a double dimple. .25" above the first, so the inspector know it has the correct insertion. Not all the notching /dimple tools have that function. My REMS doesn't but the T-Drill 55 I have does.
Soft or hard copper K,L,M and DWV. Brazed only with a filler that has a melting point above 540°F

According to Matco-Norca rep, TP adapters are mostly a NYC / east coast thing.
