extra anodes??

just a quick question for y'all:
would adding an extra anode to cold water pipe near a home water heater do any good? how about attaching a grouned electrical wire to that extra anode??

Just replace the sacrificial anode rod with a powered anode rod and you won't have anything to worry about.

The anode has to be in the water -- attaching anything to the outside of the pipe isn't going to do a thing.
