Rinnai E50 combo de aerator leaking water out of the top, there is no cap on the top, and likely never was one since new, 2 questions.
1) should it leak out of top
2) Is the original likely to have metric threads and can I replace it with a non factory part.
would the lack of a cap be a cause of the problem. stem for the missing cap is rusted.
Combi boiler has been in service for about 5 years, so it has been leaking for some time.

an air vent is an air vent,
as long as threads match, and it physically fits, , ,
I guess if you're still in warrantee, I would get written blessings from Rinnai firstknown to beat dead horses0
