counterflow main venting

Are main vents required in a steam counterflow system? One contractor has said yes another no? if yes, where should they be located? Thxs

Yes they are needed and they should be at or towards the end of the main, similar to a counterflow.
Counterflow or parallel flow, the steam still needs to move through the main in the same manner so the venting concepts are identical.3 -

The mains are lower at the boiler and high at the far end. Stem goes up the top of the pipe and condensate come s back the bottom0 -
