Adding recirculating pump to Bradford White water heater

Do I need to remove the heat traps from my Bradford White water heater before installing a Watts recirculating pump?

    The trapper nipples are to prevent gravity or thermo siphon. The circulator will open them with no problem
    Will the system have a timer  or temperature control?

    It will have a timer and a sensor to open the loop at 90 degrees.
