Steam radiator

I have a steam radiator system in my house. I get loads of steam in my basement from the steam vent I think it’s on the return line. All that steam is harming the wood in my basement. What should I do.

Get a new main vent. It's supposed to release the air ahead of the steam and close immediately when the steam front reaches it. Also, it wouldn't hurt to replace the pipe nipple under the vent with a longer one so the water won't damage it.Just another DIYer | King of Prussia, PA
