Steam pipe insulation using tape

I’ve read how effective fiberglass insulation is for steam pipe insulation. But is it possible to use any of the tape-type insulation? My basement is a finished space and I’d like to avoid the bulk and appearance of the fiberglass. And the paper covering is sure to get damaged. I’ve seen foil and other types of self-adhesive tape insulation in rolls, most with an R value of only 1 or 2. But it is less bulky and I think I can paint it after installation. Is there a specific type that I can try and is it worth it?
Thanks

You could use Zeston PVC jackets over the insulation. Turns the entire run of pipes into a well protected smooth non-porous surface.

Elbows, tees and fittings also available.
Typically these are white, but can be custom ordered in a variety of colors (most typically the OSHA pipe identification color coding)1 -

you could box it in after you insulate it.0
