STEAM BOILER OVERFLOW TRAP

In piping multiple steam boilers, the manufacturer requires a trap to be installed 4 inches above the water line and piped to the boiler feed tank to prevent the flooding of the dormant boiler. I have seen both F&T's and bucket traps specified. Which is proper?

    Could the buckets lose their prime and pass steam?

    The few that I have seen have been F&T traps.

    Two boilers, both have F/T traps. One or both have failed, steam blowing out tank vent pipe.

    can you feel the outlets for steam hot ?

    looks like the one on the left drops down to the wet return, not that that couldn't be it, but,
    the one on the right pipes to the air vent already,
    I would rebuild them both,

    consider getting the Ptrol piping up out of the water,
    dirty water ?

    High Level Spill traps are usually ¾” F&T traps. As Neilc says, rebuild them both.
