Can existing hydronic baseboard placed under the floor?

I am remodeling the kitchen and the existing hydronic baseboard can not be in the wall or under cabinet where they are now, can i place them under the floor?

    The answer would be no. The baseboard is designed to be installed above the floor, where there is a convective current that flows through the enclosure. Under floor applications are usually done with pex piping and aluminum transfer plates.

    I have run across this many times. Two options both involving the under counter kick space heater.

    One is you just cut it in series with the existing loop, but this cuts down on the total amount of baseboard you can have on the loop, since 1/2" ( the size of most kick space units) can not carry as much heat (15,000 v. 40,000). The other is to make a home run with PEX back to the boiler room. You can usually find some easy electrical source in a kitchen behind a cabinet somewhere.
