Kitchen Sink Drain/Tail Piece Issue?

Had a new kitchen faucet, sink and drain installed.

From the top view, it looks like the copper pipe is not flush with the drain, causing a small obstruction. Any way to tweak that?

The slip nut should center the brass arm on the basket strainer. Maybe you see the sealing washer? Most washers, called top hats, fit inside the brass arm to keep them centered also.
Need to disassemble and check alignment.

Doesn't look to be trapped properly, maybe.

Probably the wrong waste arm. Take everything apart and re-do it all.
  • You're seeing the top of the tailpiece washer. Sometimes it doesn't center properly, but as long as it doesn't leak, it's fine.

There's probably a trap further down, no? Looks like that drain was put in to allow for the garbage and recycle cans to fit underneath the sink. All that pipe before the trap is called a "fouling area" and can build up with food debris, soap scum and since it's before the p-trap, it can start to smell. The plumbing code limits the piping before the p-trap.

That is a hack job. It needs to be redone properly. The basket is on crocked.

It looks like it is over tightened and squeezed the gasket for the tailpiece out. That will tend to collect stuff and clog in the bottom of the basket strainer that way.
