    Local plumbing supply house. Do you really need it? If not I would consider leaving it alone or if required just using straight pipe and elimiate the valve.

    Would we say it is put in backwards?
    It looks like the union/spud is on the bottom.

    Would need access under the floor to change the spud??

    Maybe just repack the bonnet around the stem.

    The homeowner would like the valve replaced because it won’t close anymore. Short of replacing it, I would have to attempt a rebuild. Being as I do not have access below, it might be my only option

    I do have one spot on the branch piping to the radiator to install a Straight valve there. I can then leave the existing valve in the open position and leave it

    be careful. Steam is 100% shutoff, hot water should have a bleed hole in the valve to prevent freezing.
