In today's Heating Help emailing, an ad from a sponsor has a wild image:

Call me an ignorant scorched-air snorter, but what the heck is that crazy zig-zag???

    Because he could , that's why . It's not a zig zag either , it's called symmetry

    I believe it accomplishes what closely spaced tees do......only they are closely spaced wyes.
