Water in my steam vent question?

Why does only a few drops of water seem to stop a vent from working properly??
I have vents on the top of risers and I will get calls that radiators are not heating and when I go to inspect, it is just a small amount of water in the vent stopping the steam
from coming up that riser. Is this common?
Thanks
Bob

How do you know the small amount of water is involved? How are you finding this water? Is the vent working after you remove the water?
every vent has some water in it often. Some steam condenses there every cycleNJ Steam Homeowner.

when I get called and go there the pipe is cold , so I remove the vent and tap the water out of it and on the
next cycle the pipe gets hot.
Thanks for the knowledge
