Use of Viega Propress Baseboard Stiffener

I purchased a few of the Viega Propress stiffeners that are intended for use with the thinner-walled baseboard copper.

However... they don't slip in! Instead, it looks like the OD is just a tad bit large for the ID of the radiator tubing.

The radiator tubing measures at 0.875 OD, with about a 0.018 wall thickness.

Should I need a mallet to tap it into the radiator tubing (not my first inclination) , or do I have another issue going on?

    I have soldered all baseboards mostly because of the tight spaces that a propress jaws would not fit into.
    That being said. You do need to tap the stiffeners into the thin wall copper tubing.
    Ream the tubing before you start.

    Or solder on tail pieces so you can press where it's easier/more convenient.

    I found soldered on propex fittings to be great for this application.
