Are Maid-O’-Mist Jacobus Vents adjustable?

I noticed the maid-o-mist steam vent has a cap that screws on (and off.) If I held on or read the manual I probably wouldn’t need to ask but is the cap adjustable? Does it allow you to adjust the amount of air release? If not, why is the cap there?

I don’t call it adjustable. But you can remove that orifice and swap it out with any other size they offer.

That makes sense! Right now I have a patchwork of vents ... gorton, varivalve, and durst(?) (the generic ones they sell at Lowe’s) and trying to figure out which one my system prefers.

MoM are the same as Gorton basically, since Gorton copied the MoM vents (I think). They are both quiet and work well.

Maid O Mist sells a vent with all 5 orifices so you can select which venting rate by just unscrewing one and screwing on another.

They're adjustable, in the sense you can drill them out to a larger size. That's what I did; bought 4's and 5's and drilled to suit. This post has the chart:

Harbor Freight sells a set of Micro drill bits that are great for this, small diameters with fine gradations.
