Not my job, but if the Hartford loop isn’t set up with a close nipple what will happen?

    depending on water level and running pressure, it might cause water hammer in that line. 
    On a side note, whoever did install that return,  could have done it with 3 less elbows.

    Might be fine, might not.

    The Hartford Loop should not use anything longer than a shoulder nipple. I used the extra heavy nipples.
    Using a long piece of pipe allows scale or dirt to collect in the pipe. This could cause at some time in the future the slowing down of water flow into the boiler. Rare occurrence but possible.

    Sometimes under the right conditions severe banging will occur.

    It looks like only one side is connected to a Hartford Loop and what is that brass gizzmo in the T.
