Bryant gas fired boiler 1950-60

Options
I need help in identifying this Bryant boiler; still works but I need to upgrade, there are no serial #'s left on it. I need the model # to figure out the BTU's. Thanks for any help.

You need to do a scientific load calc to determine what size boiler is ACTUALLY needed. Chances are that the old one is grossly over-sized.

SlantFin has a free load calc app that you can download.

You can clock the gas meter to find out the btu input of that boiler.
I took one out like that and replaced it with one with about 1/2 btu rating of the old. And it is still probably too big, but is a modulating boiler.

Most boilers are oversized for the load on the house.. and there is often far more radiation than needed. The guidelines used for design were often originally based on coal Fired systems where The firing rate varied, so you wanted to have enough heat even with a partial burn rate and wanted to make sure you never started steaming even if slightly overfired. Also wanted faster recovery if the fire had died down overnight or while away.

Get a load calculation done or even use your gas bills to work backwards
