Faucet ID and cartridge question

Not sure of the manufacturer, it has a p stamped on it so I assume Phister? The faucet is dripping so i need to replace the cartridge. Is it under the nut on top? Had to pull whole thing out because I couldn’t budge the nut. If it’s under there I’m going to have to put it in a vice. Figured I’d ask if that’s how it comes apart before I destroy everything .

    Looks like a Price Pfister. Grab it by the hex at the bottom in a vice. A box or socket would be my weapon of choice

    That does look like a Price Pfister part. ?

    Try calling there customer service number.....1-800-732-8238

    (I miss the days when one could just look at a faucet and know what brand it was.)

    I sent them some photos. Hoping for a model #. With the virus stuff it might take awhile for a reply

    The trim just doesn't look like Price Pfister. I'd say Phylrich.

    Funny thing is I pulled the hot side out and it has blue plastic on the bottom. Thought that meant cold side. Only way the handles would turn properly though

    Did you try turning both ways? Might be left hand thread to match the direction the stem closes or something equally unnecessary. If you look closely you should be able to see if that part with the flats is a separate part or not. Also possible it comes apart at that tee part somewhere and just has a super long stem up through the whole body of the thing.

    Found the assembly instructions. Can’t find the company. Think this came from a Home Depot

    Maybe it is just a compression faucet if it was a home depot flipper special.

    Found it. Pegasus k300 faucet. Also makes glacier bay, or vice verse. Home Depot cartridge looks cheap plastic.

    Looking at what google comes up with for Pegasus k300, I think I would consider just replacing it with an American Standard or a Kohler.

    Thats what I would do.

    I would change it because it may cost the same amount in time and money. Replace the whole thing and get a better faucet.
    A kohler faucet is a very good idea. I have installed many with little issue later on.

    Sadly that is so correct. In olden days never changed a fixture because we replaced seat and washer and packing all generic.
    Bye the way; how do I change fixture on laundry tub?

    Agreed, but I'd use Delta or Moen. Two of the easiest brands to get parts for.

    I would say delta or moen for a basic faucet, but if you buy the fancy ones they cost almost as much as a kohler or american standard and the kohler or american standard will far outlast the delta or moen.

    Do you mean the ceramic disc or the crappy O ring packing?

    I mean the pull out spout and wide spread faucets. The Deltas and Moens that are just a conventional 4" lav faucet or swing spout kitchen faucet are a good deal, but the pull out spout ones are kind of flimsy and almost as expensive as more sturdy products from other manufactures. They priced themselves out of their market with the way they priced the designer type faucets.
