    A client of mine has a couple Crest boilers. They haven't had any major issues. The Crest is just a giant firetube boiler.

    I don’t have a lot of personal experience with them but I’ve heard the heat exchangers aren’t great.

    They do require some finesse when tuning the combustion though. They have two blowers and two gas valves. They’re a little picky at light off and low fire.

    I serviced some Crests for 4-5 years. We had a little trouble with flame failures on some of them. Burners need to be clean and combustion needs to be right. As Mike_Sheppard said, the combustion is a little finicky. We got the rep to send someone out and show our techs some the finer points. It may just be anecdotal, but it seems like we always had more issues with the ones without ducted combustion air (pulled combustion air from the room). I heard the design has changed and that they no longer have two separate gas valves and blowers, but don’t know that for sure.
