steam orifice

has anyone ever seen the orifice in a 2 pipe steam handle get plugged is it something i should be checking for.

    Is the orifice in the valve itself or inserted in the valve spud union?
    No heat could be failed close rad trap.

    Not saying it couldn't happen -- a stray piece of thread tape or something could get in there. But otherwise -- there's nothing in the steam which would do it.

    We've had one or two in the past 15 years on the couple thousand orifice plates we have installed.

    i haven't taken it apart yet. I'm just trying to figure out my plan of attack to trouble shoot the system. its a two pipe dry returns with f&t traps .

    What is the device mounted on top of the pipe in the pic? That's not where a trap or orifice usually goes................

    thats what i think is an f&t trap on the return. I'm not considering the job anymore i can't pay him to let me do the work. he thinks i should work for free

    @mikedo. Don't know the circumstances but good for you. Value is not cheap. And there is no crime in making a respectable profit.
