If you use this type of circulating pump do you require a pump controller.

    The pump usually wires into the boiler control or computer or a relay box.

    What type of system do you have zone valves, TRVs? Which model Alpha? Some models have a summer function which exercises them occasionally to prevent sticking over no use periods, so they need to be plugged in to a constant power source to use that function.
