Giannoni heat exchangers

in THE MAIN WALL
Velocity Phantom boiler needs a new rear firewall. Wondering how it is attached to rear of chamber. I say Giannoni heat exchanger and thats an assumption for reference. Thanks for any help.

    Doesn't look like it's fastened at all. The burner tube looks to keep it in place. You can check for a screw in the center of the refractory.

    Some have a very small Allen screw and washer holding them in place. If so I shot a little WD-40 to soak awhile and then a little turn tightening and untighten, I had to go back and forth several times in and out until it got loose.

    Then a large sharp tweezers to poke it near the top and walk it out......that might be all you need to do for this one.

    The one I removed was not in terrible shape and I just flipped it over to reinstall after cleaning.

    I went to a class on them and when I asked they said you only need to cover when cleaning and removing wasn’t required . Personally when there’s a Allen I ll remove them I would see if it’s only held in place by the burner tube if so I would take it out to clean .you can see if a standard Allen key can make it behind the side to see if it will pop off .     BTW, for me it was a metric Allen screw.....something you do not want to bugger up or twist off.

    I don’t see a obvious screw. I’ll know better when I have the new part.
