Hey Bob. Being from the Philly area, I’m used to long suffering between championships.
Hey btw, thanks for Bryce Harper. :)

Congrats to the Nats!! My dad was a huge Nationals fan... but he passed away just two years ago. I'm elated but missing him dearly.

Yankee fan here. Congrats to the Nats. 95 years!

Glad the Nationals won. Astros seem very cocky...........or at least they were.

Yankee fan here too. Nationals are one hell of a team!
Last world series win was in 1924 when they were the Senators ?or Pilots ? or some Dead Man's team name.

Washington Senators! Yes! They won game 7 in 1924 with hall-of-fame pitcher Walter Johnson (aka The Big Train). My high school alma mater is, in fact, Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, MD. He is buried in the Rockville cemetery just down the road from here. There were people visiting it and leaving flowers during the series for good luck. It seems to have worked.

I grew up a Senators fan until Bob Short broke his promise and moved them to Texas where they became the Rangers. Then, we went 33 years without a MLB team in the nations capital. Unfathomable.

Last Friday night I had the privilege of taking my grandson to the first World Series game in DC. in 86 years. Something I've dreamed of all my life.

Pilots were in Seattle- ISTR they became the Milwaukee Brewers. But that was before I stopped following baseball long ago, since the Orioles got as bad as they've been for the last several decades.

  • I used to work for the Oakland A's in the late 60's as their office boy. On game days, I helped out the traveling secretary to print game stats for the press and also went down to the dugouts to get the days lineup and write them on the chalk board in the press box.

It was always exciting when the Senators came into town to see Ted Williams, their manager at the time in the dugout.

Aside: The A's were in the World Series in 1972 and the owner, Charlie Finley flew the office staff back to Cincinnati for the games there. He even gave us all World Series rings. I still have mine.
