Venerable Baltimore Steam Fitting Supply House Closes its Doors

Pratt Thompson has been in the pipe, fitting, and valve business for over 100 years. It is closing for good in a few days. The parts are being sold off or scrapped as you read this. The building is to be torn down by the end of this month.
This is likely the only video record of its existence.

Sic transit gloria mundi.

We have lost several in Western, MA most of them over 100 years old. Holyoke Supply, Holyoke Valve & Hydrant, McLean Heating. All replaced by chains like FW Webb & Furgueson.

@nicholas bonham-carter : Those tea bins were all throughout that building by the score. They are throwaways from the McCormick Spice Co. (which used to be located several blocks away) Cheap and serviceable bins they made. They still had the tin foil liner some of them.

Just one of the many unique features of that place.

Thank you for taking the time to memorize it, Gordo. STGM indeed. Sigh.
    Retired and loving it.

To bad, that sucks. Really loved when they panned over the lawn chair with padding added and the American flag, that was beautiful, can just see some old timer sitting there in between picking orders.
