Are you switching to gas? If so, you can install Carlin or Riello gas burners in these units. So equipped, they will last a LOT longer than any gas condensing boiler.

If you need 2 boilers for snow melt, the price of oil shouldn't be a problem for you.
Putting gas guns on them isn't really going to save you any money.

@STEVEusaPA , that would depend on the relative cost per BTU. Sometimes oil and gas are rather close, sometimes oil is considerably more expensive.

Many of our conversions are driven by that, and a desire to avoid running out of oil if the oil supplier doesn't deliver.

I agree, but many areas are starting to enforce moratoriums on new gas hook ups. And there has been many articles, increasing each year of gas explosions and nat gas supply issues.

I think nat gas supply is going to be a bigger issue in the future than heating oil supply...now heating oil suppliers...that's another issue.

And then there's a few slogans..."Go gas, go boom",
and "Oil wipes up, gas blows up".

Not to mention, with oil you'll get soot, then CO. With gas you'll get dead, then soot.

    Wow... Great stuff guys...
We have propane and a separate boiler for Heating & Domestic. It's time for an upgrade and repipe.
Doing new Propane Boilers (2- Lochinvar Noble 285) for Heating, domestic, Snow melt & Pool heater. Was told i could not put conversion Burners on these oil boilers. Propane in our area as been priced well compared to oil..

Can you override ODR in order to max fire the pool heater?
