The bottom line is, if the tube and the fittings has the correct listings they can and often are used interchangeably.

Dig into the tech sheets at any tube manufacturers website, Rehau, Uponor, etc and they have documants accepting other brands of fittings and rings if the carry the correct ASTM listing numbers.

Of course manufacturers prefer you use their components.

I was not aware you could just strip any and all pex-al-pex and use regular crimp fittings and rings. Fostapex, yes, but I wouldn't put them in the same class as the ID is larger on standard PAP. Fostapex and pex-al-pex are not the same thing. @STEAM DOCTOR @Charlie from wmass can either of you clarify this?

The only PEX-Al-PEX stocked in my area is Fostapex.
Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

@Charlie from wmass Fostapex is some great tubing. And of course you must use this very helpful tool to peel the PE and aluminum outer coating.
The pipe and tools used for installation are excellent inventions.

@Intplm. I use it often and it has always met my needs. I am using Uponor more for potable water systems though.
