Anybody have any opinions on bath fitter? My tub and shower was done in the early sixties. it works fine but I'm very tired of trying to clean the grout on the old mud job. I just don't know whether the bath fitter is actually worth the hype.

    My personal feeling is it’s turd polishing.
    You should be able to properly clean, then seal grout and not have to worry about it for quite some time.
    My remodeled master bath is 10 years old, never have to do more than regular cleaning.
    A squeegee and an exhaust fan do wonders.

    I did it I'm my large bathroom. It's not cheap, but if your tile is in good shape and the color is not pink or baby blue you can freshen up the bathroom.

    I agree, it won't take long before bath fitter looks worse that what you have now, which is 50+ years old? If it's not time to replace the whole kit and kaboddle, you could carefully remove the grout, and re-grout with an epoxy based grout to get something more resistant to mildew.

    Well the whole bathroom is pink and grey. 🤣 I just don't have the cash to redo it right now.

    There are companies that can refinish ceramic tile, the same way the refinish a tub-sand, repaint, bake on a finish, re grout, seal.

    My condolences. I had a pink tiled bathroom from the mid 50s. I ripped it out as soon as I was able to, all the way down to the studs, and started over.

    Refinishing the tub is the better idea. (Less than ten years from now you will be asking why did I do bath fitter?)
    It can look nice but I have had my doubts as to how long it lasts.

    If you have a pink tub and it enameled, have it refinished. It looks great and can be very long lasting. It always looks good when you update the tub and shower valve along with the waste and overflow after refinishing. You will have a entirely new bathroom look when its done.

    Bath fitters was sued by the state for operating without a master plumber here. So theres that.
    personally I don't like the idea, if you have any rot or water damage under the existing tub you will never know until its far worse.
    i called on a woman who had bath fitters do over her tub, she had a leak. the water supply to the tub was badly degraded and was leaking, a full tub replacement would have revealed this and saved A LOT of damage.
    They do look nice and are fast, not sure how the pricing compares to full replacement.
