Can a Heat n Glo AT-Grand gas fireplace (nat gas) be converted from a standing pilot to a piezo ignition?

    I would contact HeatnGlo they may have a kit they can send you. Does this pilot have an ODS system as part of the pilot?

    Not sure what you're asking. Their standing pilot fireplaces have piezo igniters. Are you confusing piezo with Intermittent Pilot Ignition? Their system is called "Intellifire" and is not tested or compatible with every unit. When it first came out some fireplaces were tested and listed with either IPI or Std. pilot but most of the std. pilot units are gone now. Just look in the manual that came with your fireplace. It will list replacement parts with a numbered diagram. If it shows the Intellifire module, Dexen valve, IPI pilot assy, transformer, battery pack then it can be converted. Still you would want an OEM kit with instructions. If it isn't listed in the manual then you're out of luck. Are you worried about burning a little bit of gas with the standing pilot? They typically clock btw 1200-1600 BTU/hr.

    I was told by the manufacturer that the unit was tested and assembled as a standing pilot and can't be converted. The whole fireplace must be replaced if the standing pilot is to be converted. It was not the Intellifire model.
