Should be water traces from the relief valve popping if that is the case. I see the pipes shaking in the background in the video of the water heaters in question.0

AO Smith Cyclone, bad misfiring combustion....maybe water in the burner compartment....poor venting/combustion air set up.
I have had this happen, wish I had never seen/installed that heater. Over sensitive to anything slightly out of parameter.

hmmm, I have been asked to install a cyclone (would be my first) for a hotel. It is one of 5, the existing venting is questionable. Maybe I'll pass on this job.....they already bought the water heater anyways, and I have months of work to get caught up on as it is......don't need a callback nightmare.

Almost sounds like steam flashing against condensate and tripping the relief valve. I wonder what the temperature settings were when this happened?0
