Aquastat sensor won’t come out of well

Help please.
I’ve replaced the aquastat on my Superstor before, but this time I cannot get the sensor out. It feels like it’s corroded against the side of the well.
I have been spraying Liquid Wrench into the well and tapping the sensor with a thin screwdriver, but it won’t budge.
Any advice? Do I need to drain my tank and replace the well along with the new aquastat?
Thanks,

  • I'd grab onto that sensor with a good pair of electricians pliers, place another pair of pliers at the face of the well and underneath the first pair of pliers and try to leverage that sensor out.

If the capillary tube breaks off, replace the well.

Is it an aquastat or a sensor?

You did loosen the screw all the way and make sure the retaining clip is uncoupled from the well before pulling it out. If you used heat transfer paste on the bulb, it may have hardened. You can try and soften the paste with lacquer thinner. Give it time to work.

Was is leaking from the well and that's why it needs replacing?
Super Stor requires a stainless well. Is that what you have?
