Hello, I'm a new home owner (old apartment building). A licensed and insured plumber installed
The city building/plumbing inspector told us the city code requires :

"NYC MC 1004.6 Boiler rooms and enclosures. Boiler rooms and enclosures and access thereto shall comply with the New York City
Building Code and Chapter 3 of this code. Boiler rooms shall be equipped with a floor drain or other approved means for dis -
posing of liquid waste in accordance with the New York City Plumbing Code."

Since floor drainage will be very expensive, can you recommend any other mean for disposing of liquid waste?

Thank you,
Batya

Why is a floor drain expensive (a basement drain should have been there anyway, by the way, boiler or no)? House lateral above the floor? If so, a drain pit and pump...
