Oil heat - desire to convert to natural gas

Need recommendations: looking to change to a natural gas boiler system instead of an oil boiler system. Any good contractor recommendations in central Pennsylvania? I know these heating systems are touchy...

Um... what are you starting with? Existing boiler? Steam or hot water?

Yes - ugi just installed natural gas right in front of the house. They will do the hook up for less than $900.

That doesn't sound like a Burnham oil-fired model number- check again. You're probably looking for a number with something like V7, V8 or V9 in it. Post pictures if you're not sure.

It's a V7. The model number must have been misprinted. If you can tell us what the firing rate and the Net rating are, we can tell you which one it is.

A V7 that hasn't cracked yet, imagine that.

What type of system? Copper or cast iron baseboard? Cast iron radiators?
Did you check with UGI to see if you would qualify for their rebates? In some of UGI service areas they were offering $1500 for condensing 95% AFUE boiler and $1800 for condensing combi 95% AFUE boiler.
You could also look into installing an cast iron gas boiler chimney vented with an indirect water heater or gas water heater. With this type of system you should install an aluminum or SS chimney liner.
There are cast iron gas boilers that vent sidewall with SS vent pipe and fittings
Weil Mclain has a cast iron gas boiler with external heat exchanger this boiler can be vented sidewall with PVC pipe.
There are many choices with gas boilers.
Find a good contractor that can answer any questions.
